Sun Yat Sen is another famous historical figure for the Taiwanese people. He is a Chinese revolutionary and the first president of the Republic of China. It was completed in 1972. We actually walked here from Taipei 101 but you can also access it through the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall Station on the metro.
It was actually undergoing maintenance so no one was allowed inside. I just peeked through the glass and took a picture of the huge statue. According to wikipedia, there’s also changing of the guards held here and on display are some of his paraphernalia.
This is actually the place where you can get full unobstructed shots of the Taipei 101. We saw a lot of tourists here despite it being closed. I guess they also came to take pictures of both of the buildings. :)
