Arc de Triomphe is one of the more popular tourist destinations in Paris. I remember arriving at night in Paris for the first time and this was the first monument I saw so it was quite memorable. The structure is actually quite big up close. You can’t cross it from across the street because of vehicular traffic. You need to go underground and emerge right across. You can actually go up the arc by stairs (no elevators) and the admission fee is currently at 8 euros.

We went here by metro. Metro stop Charles de Gaulle Etoile by line 1, 2, 6 and Rer A.

Since we were already here. We walked through Champs-Elysees. There are plenty of restaurants along its tree lined road. Also shops including the really huge Louis Vuitton store.

We went further down and noticed that there were the cyclists all over town especially here at Champs-Elysees. It’s because of the Tour de France and the finals will be the following day at Champs-Elysees where the finish line would be.

12It was quite nice to see the stands. We also saw this van that was selling Tour de France merchandise.

For 20 euros, you get a bag with a T-shirt, a flag, bandana, toy keychain and ribbons. The material was really nice so my cousin and I bought a bag each. They don’t have this kind of thing everyday so we thought that it would make a great souvenir. :)
