Naughty Nuri’s Warung is one of the popular restaurants in Ubud. It is located on the outskirts of Ubud, on the street lined up with art galleries and the fine dining restaurant Mozaic is also on the same street. It is a streetside eatery so don’t expect anything fancy. It’s a small place so they have limited seating, you would see anxious customers waiting for a seat on the road side. They are famous for their baby back ribs and cocktails.
We made the mistake of walking from Ubud City Center to Naughty Nuri’s Warung. It’s a good 1.5 kilometer walk with parts of it uphill. Don’t do this. I would recommend a taxi ride for this. It was such a long walk, we were so tired. The only good thing about it is we chanced upon a local procession on the river just below this bridge. It was beautiful.
When we finally reached Naughty Nuri’s, it was around dusk. We were lucky we didn’t have to wait for too long for seats, we shared a long table with a couple. Service was fast and efficient. The interiors were funky and cozy. It’s still a traditional warung with some funky elements and decor.
I can understand why their ribs are popular. The marinade is just perfect. It’s a little sweet and also spicy, there is a balance there that the Indonesian are so good at. I’ve also noticed it with their Nasi and Mie Goreng. Our ribs were a little dry, if they were cooked juicy, they would have been the perfect ribs! We didn’t like the sausage on the other hand.
I also ordered a watermelon juice which was pretty good.
RATING: 8/10. They serve good food with fast and efficient service, their pork ribs are really, really good. Prices were okay, not too bad. I imagine that the prices would be cheaper if they weren’t this popular. It’s about 100,000 rupiah for an order of pork ribs which is about 400 pesos or $10. Our bill was around 400,000 pesos which is 1600 pesos or about 550 pesos per person. So yes, very well recommended.
