Shijo Kawamarachi is the central area of Kyoto. It’s the place to go if you want to shop. Kyoto is very traditional but this area seems more like Tokyo or any metropolitan area in Japan except for small temples tucked in next to buildings and establishments.
I like that their street has the store name lined up on top along the walkway.
There are several popular department stores on each corner. We didn’t go in any of those since we know we couldn’t afford anything. We went to the Teramachi shopping arcade instead.
Then we saw this purikura and took a few picture of us. It costs 400-500 yen, I really can’t remember. It’s pretty easy to use. We were just confused at first on which place we needed to go to edit it and print it but we figured it out – eventually. Photo Booths are fun! These ones are high tech too, they make your eyes bigger. The results are really pretty. They even have suggestions on how to pose.
